On the 11th, the federation held an emergency countermeasures meeting related to video reading at the federation office in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 9th and announced that it had given the head of the game operation office and the head of the referee a stern warning by asking for responsibility for education and management.
In addition, in the future, video readings will be carefully conducted using screens from various angles, and immediately after the results are announced, if a contest member or referee finds a clear error, it is limited to the screens already provided, and the guide has been set up so that it can be reconfirmed and corrected.
We decided to do our best to prevent a recurrence by thoroughly educating the game and referees.
The federation said, “We apologize for confusing the fans with the video review,” and promised, “We will make every effort to make an accurate decision.”
Previously, on the 27th of last month, in the men’s professional volleyball KB Insurance-Korea Electric Power match held at the Uijeongbu Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province, a previous misjudgment came out, causing controversy. The referees also acknowledged the mistake by making a hasty decision, but according to the rules, once the decision was made, it could not be changed, causing controversy.
The next day after the controversy, another misjudgment controversy came out, and the wave grew even more. On the afternoon of the 28th of last month, another misjudgment controversy arose in a men’s professional volleyball match between Hyundai Capital and OK Financial Group held at Cheonan Yu Gwan-soon Gymnasium in Chungcheongnam-do.
At the time Hyundai Capital coach Choi Tae-woong’s request for a video review, the game committee members hurriedly announced the video review result after only looking at one screen, and then overturned it immediately, causing unnecessary controversy.
