KBL Idol’ Heo Woong (KCC) was recognized as one of the most influential sports players.
Heo Woong was selected as the most influential sports player (basketball/male) at the ‘2023 Brand Customer Loyalty Awards’ held at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido on the 2nd. The event was hosted by the Korea Consumer Forum, and the Korea Consumer Forum and Brand Key (a top 10 American brand consulting agency) acted as certification bodies.
The ‘2023 Brand Customer Loyalty Grand Prize’ is a brand award that selects and awards brands with the highest loyalty in each field of society, such as economy, character, and culture, through a survey of 210,000 consumers. In the sports field, Heo Woong, Kim Dan-bi (Woori Bank), Han Seon-su, Kim Yeon-kyung (ideal volleyball), Lee Jung-hoo (baseball), and Son Heung-min (soccer) were selected.

Heo Woong is a popular star representing KBL. While steadily growing after his debut, he also has the thickest fandom in KBL. He received 120,354 votes, the most ever, in the All-Star fan vote last season, and won the Popularity Award for four consecutive seasons from the 2019-2020 season to this season.
KCC, a popular team representing KBL, also recruited Heo Woong through FA negotiations and gained wings. Heoung-related products such as mood lights, stuffed toys, and fans were sold out in succession on the online store, and the average number of spectators at home games reached 3,062. This was second only to Seoul SK (average number of 3,685), which is based in Seoul.
A KCC official said, “New fans have flowed in to existing fans, and more fans have become interested in basketball because of Heo Woong. I am grateful to the fans who have shown interest in the club and professional basketball through Heo Woong.”
On the other hand, Heo Woong played in 40 regular league games in the 2022-2023 season, the first season after moving to KCC, and averaged 15.7 points, 2.3 3-point shots, 2.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals for 29 minutes and 41 seconds. The assist is a career high, and it was a record that corresponds to the 5th overall.
