Is it all over? NYY-SD close to finalizing ‘Soto trade’

The Juan Soto (25) trade that was sure to happen is imminent. The New York Yankees appear to have met the San Diego Padres’ demands.

The New York Yankees and San Diego are close to finalizing a trade for Soto, MLB Network reported on Sunday.

It noted that the deal includes both Michael King (28) and Drew Thorpe (23), who San Diego demanded. It also includes an additional player 캡틴토토 도메인.

This shows how badly the Yankees wanted to acquire Soto. Both King and Thorpe are right-handed pitchers, a resource that the Yankees wanted to keep.

Soto underperformed last year after being acquired from the San Diego Padres. His OPS dropped to .778 after posting a .894 OPS in Washington.

But Soto bounced back this season, hitting .275 with 35 home runs, 109 RBI, 97 runs scored, 156 runs batted in, a .410 OPS, and a .930 slugging percentage in 162 games.

He’s an all-around hitter with contact, power, and a good eye for the ball, especially the eye for the ball, which means he’s not likely to go down easily.

King is a 1995-born right-handed pitcher in his fifth year in the major leagues. He pitched 104 2/3 innings in 49 games last season, posting a 2.75 ERA.

Thorpe, a right-hander born in 2000, also pitched well in the upper levels of the minor leagues last season, posting a 2.52 ERA in 139 1/3 innings at Single-A and Double-A.

The Yankees will likely go all-in on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, 25, after this trade. This is because they need to fill the mound vacated by the addition of Soto.
