Emerging Rival Match → V-Classic Match… A hot weekend proved that men’s volleyball is still alive

It was a hot last weekend.

Men’s volleyball has long been pushed back by the popularity of women’s volleyball. It’s been quite some time since I lost to women’s volleyball in terms of ratings as well as the number of spectators.

While women’s volleyball was writing a legend in the semifinals at the 2012 London and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, men’s volleyball did not produce any significant results. The last time she participated in the Olympics was Sydney 2000, and the last time she won a gold medal at the Asian Games was Doha 2006. The reality of men’s volleyball is that they cannot even dream of participating in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) or world championship.

The first half was the same. According to the first half of the Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO), the average viewer rating for the men’s division was 0.58%, while the women’s division was 1.05%. The average number of spectators was also 1,411 for men and 2,368 for women. Of course, even if the average viewer ratings and spectators in the women’s division jumped due to the effect of Heungkuk Life’s Kim Yeon-kyung, men’s volleyball has no choice but to feel great envy.

However, fans who watched men’s volleyball on the 14th and 15th would have felt that men’s volleyball did not die. This is because it was a weekend where you could feel not only the performance but also the surprise performance of the new players and the hot cheering fever.

On the 14th, the men’s game was held at Jangchung Gymnasium. A match between Woori Card and Korean Air, emerging as emerging rivals in the V-League. The game started at 2:00 PM and ended at 4:42 PM. It was a bloody battle that lasted 148 minutes.

Riverman Agamez (registered name Agamez) and Lincoln Williams (registered name Lincoln)’s firepower showdown, Kim Ji-han and Jeong Han-yong’s new main gun showdown, head coach Kim Jae-heon’s brilliant performance, who directed the game instead of coach Shin Young-chul, who could not come to the stadium due to the confirmation of Corona 19 until resourcefulness. Woori Card Kim Ji-han-Kim Wan-jong and Korean Air Jeong Han-yong-Lee Jun got opportunities and proved their skills. It wasn’t just one or two things to see. Lincoln scored a maximum of 44 points in an individual game, and Kim Wan-jong, who started on behalf of Lee Sang-hyun, who was confirmed for Corona 19, also scored a maximum of 13 points in an individual game and played an active role of 100 points.

The match did not end easily. In the last 5 sets, a deuce game with over 20 points was played, and the winner was Woori Card, but there was no winner or loser this day. On this day, 3,217 people visited Jangchung Gymnasium, which was the largest number of spectators in the men’s division this season.

The heat of men’s volleyball continued the next day. The V-Classic match between Hyundai Capital and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, the best rival match of the V-League, was waiting. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance had the upper hand with 58 wins and 51 losses in 109 encounters before the match.

Even if there is a difference in this season’s leaderboard (Hyundai Capital 2nd, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance 7th), they were two teams that fought bloody battles whenever they met. There was not even an inch of concession on this day. I showed everything I could show on the volleyball court. The Hyundai Capital players led the game to their own by inducing hot cheers from home fans, and eventually gave victory to home fans with 5 consecutive victories against Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.

On this day, 2,388 spectators visited Cheonan Yu Gwan-sun Gymnasium. It’s not a full crowd, and it’s not the biggest crowd at Hyundai Capital’s home this season. However, the passionate support and support that filled the stadium made the players of both teams stand out. 스포츠토토

From the middle of the second set, Song Won-geun took the place of Park Sang-ha and scored 7 points, the most in an individual game. The attack success rates of Jeon Kwang-in and Heo Soo-bong reached 85% and 71%, respectively. Kim Jeong-ho and Shin Shin-ho also showed off a fiery attack power comparable to Jeon Kwang-in and Heo Soo-bong. With the addition of the hustle play that blows the bodies of the liberos, a movie-like game on the other hand made 2,388 people stand up.

Choi Tae-woong, head coach of Hyundai Capital, said, “When we play the V-Classic match, there seems to be more excitement than other games. I want to play a more exciting game in a classic match. The name of the rival, Classic Match, was first created in the V-League. Both teams are thinking that it would be nice if the performance matched that.”

Men’s volleyball still has a long way to go. Everyone knows, the players and the manager know. So make an effort. Fans see you when you show outstanding performance, and you know that fans like you when you do marketing that goes closer to them. So, Woori Card is holding various events at home games, and KB Insurance is also holding an event inviting fans to away games. Other clubs are putting their heads together on how to attract fans.

Recently, the V-League has been noisy due to various controversies such as video review. However, as much as last weekend, I could properly feel the heat of volleyball. It was also confirmed that men’s volleyball did not die.
