According to the Gimpo Police Station on the 2nd, at around 4:30 am the previous day, a report was received on 112 that a man in his 20s was carrying a weapon on a street in Masan-dong, Gimpo-si.
The police, who were dispatched after receiving the report, arrested Mr. A on a street in Masan-dong at around 6:10 am on the same day, about 1 hour and 40 minutes after the incident.
At the time of the arrest, Mr. A had left the weapon at home. The weapon he carried was known to be 20 cm long.
As a result of the police investigation, it was found that there was no circumstance in which Mr. A attacked or threatened others with his weapon.
Mr. A is said to have claimed to the police, “I came out with my father’s fishing knife out of curiosity,” and “I had no intention of harming anyone.”
However, nearby residents were left with anxiety. This is because it reminded me of the recent stabbing incident in Sillim-dong, Seoul. One resident said to YTN , “It was difficult for a while after watching the video of the accident at Sillim Station.”
The police ordered Mr. A to pay a fine of 80,000 won on charges of concealing and carrying a weapon, and called his parents to hand over the new recruit.
A police official said, “It has been confirmed that Mr. A has received treatment related to mental illness.”
