“Difficult to compare equally with 24 leagues”
Dustin Johnson falls to 121st in ranking
LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabian capital, has once again failed to receive recognition from the world ranking system.
The Associated Press reported on the 11th that the World Golf Rankings (OWGR) committee, which calculates the men’s golf world rankings, recently dismissed a petition attempted by LIV Golf in July based on a year of operation.
OWGR cited the fact that LIV Golf is a no-cut league with 48 players안전놀이터 per tournament, 54 holes played, and cannot be fairly compared to 24 other leagues around the world as the reason for refusing recognition. “We are not going to war with them,” said OWGR chairman Peter Dawson. “This decision is not political, it is entirely technical. “We are confident that LIV Golf can receive rankings, but it is not a format that can be compared equally with the other 24 tours,” he said.
LIV Golf has continuously attempted to receive recognition from OWGR since its launch in June of last year. However, OWGR has presented guidelines from the beginning, saying that LIV Golf’s competition format is not suitable for granting world rankings.
After their wishes were thwarted, LIV Golf issued a long official statement, saying, “OWGR is not performing its basic function of reflecting the world’s best players in its rankings,” and added, “This ignores players, fans, sponsors, broadcasters, etc. He fiercely criticized it, saying, “This is the kind of behavior you are doing.”
Since last year, the world rankings of players who moved to LIV Golf have fallen seriously. Dustin Johnson (USA) rose from 13th to 121st, Louis Oosthuizen (South Africa) from 20th to 385th, Bryson DeChambeau (USA) from 29th to 132nd, Kevin Na (USA) from 33rd to 453rd, and Sergio Garcia (USA) from 29th to 132nd. Spain) fell from 54th to 375th. Only former world number one Brooks Koepka (USA) remains in 18th place with a runner-up finish in the Masters and victory in the PGA Championship.
