The Detroit Tigers brought the Major League Baseball (MLB) Division Series (best of five) to square one thanks to a dramatic home run hit in their last attack.
Detroit won the second game of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians 3-0 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday. Having lost in the first game, Detroit ended its series with one win and one loss and is heading home in a good mood.
Detroit’s ace, Tariq Skubal, kept seven innings of stellar pitching, allowing three hits, no outs and eight strikeouts, but continued the frustrating game as the batters remained silent. In the top of the eighth inning, Wesley Perez’s well-hit ball was caught by Cleveland left fielder Stephen Kwan’s picturesque diving catch.
The game was decided in Detroit’s last attack at the top of the ninth inning when the score was 0-0. Detroit created a chance against Cleveland’s special closing pitcher Emanuel Klyze by garnering consecutive hits after two outs, and the follow-up batter Kerry Carpenter hit a 93.7 mile slider (about 150.9 kilometers) on Klyze’s sixth pitch with a ball count of 2B-2S to hit a three-run homer over the right fence. He then blocked Cleveland’s offense without allowing a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure a thrilling victory. 안전놀이터
