Considering an extension option is a very natural phenomenon for the club. However, for the fans, Tottenham’s overall move was felt as disrespecting Son. Not only has he changed his words from a long-term contract to a one-year extension, but he has not made any moves to renew his contract with only eight months left before the contract expires.
Tottenham’s recent moves are also easily recognized as preparations for farewell from Son. Tottenham appeared to be considering rebuilding by recruiting a large number of teenage players through the transfer window last summer.
