The Philadelphia Phillies caught the New York Mets with a walk-off hit and balanced the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) fall baseball game.
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Mets 7-6 in the second game of the National League Division Series (NLDS) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday (Korea time). The team suffered a come-from-behind loss (2-6) in the first game on the previous day.
The game was tight until the end with six home runs between the two teams. The Phillies had a chance with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning when the score was 6-6. Trey Turner and Bryce Harper got on base with consecutive walks. The fourth batter, Nick Castejanos, hit a real pitch from opposing pitcher Tyler Megill to make a hit that stabbed deep into the left outfield. The game ended as Turner, a runner on second base, stepped home. The Phillies players celebrated the victory by spraying water on Castejanos, who arrived at first base. Earlier in the sixth inning, Castejanos had three hits in five at-bats (one home run) with two RBIs, including a tiebreaking one-run home run. The two teams will play Game 3 at Citi Field, New York, the Mets’ home stadium, on the 9th.
On the same day, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres 2-1 in the second game of the NLDS held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The series matches each other with one win and one loss, but the mood is focused on the Padres. As the starting lineup for two consecutive games collapsed early, the Dodgers started its away game feeling anxious.
During the five ⅓ innings, Jack Flaherty gave up five hits and four runs, including two homers. Although he came from behind to win the first game on the previous day, starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was substituted after allowing five runs during three innings.
Dodgers is concerned about its management of starting pitchers going forward. Tyler Glasnow, Gavin Stone, and Clayton Kershaw are out due to injury, while Walker Buehler and Bobby Miller are in poor condition. Even though Shohei Ohtani, the hero of MLB’s first 50-50 club (54 home runs, 59 steals), Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman are among the top hitters, the Dodgers is facing a difficult game. 안전놀이터
