‘PBA powerhouse’ Cho Jae-ho and Choi Sung-won beat ‘Vietnam Jaeya masters’ to advance to the round of 64 side by side

PBA powerhouses such as Cho Jae-ho (NH Nonghyup Card) and Choi Sung-won (Huons) beat Vietnam’s “hidden masters” side by side to reach the round of 64.

On the first day of the PBA 128 round of the “2024 PBA-LPBA SY Bazar Hanoi Open” held at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the 20th (Korea time), Cho Jae-ho won Maidangpu (Vietnam) and Choi Sung-won advanced to the round of 64 by winning a set score of 3-0.

Cho won the first set 15-8 (8 innings) and the second set 15-5 (7 innings), taking the lead early on. Murat Najee Choclu (Turkey, Hana Card) defeated Ts’uongtai Juiyi (Vietnam) 3-1 and Eddie Lefuns (SK Rent-a-Car) also beat Tomin Tien (Vietnam) 3-0. Yusuke Mori (SWY), Lim Sung-kyun (Hiwon Resort), and Kim Young-seop also defeated Tsuongbandeuk Nguyen Main Pot Huynhien. David Zapata (Spain, Woori Financial Capital) also beat Vinh who woke up after a fierce competition.

In the other game, “Spanish legend” Daniel Sanchez (SY) defeated Lim Wan-seop 3-1 and “Turkiye Shinsung” Burak Hashashi (High1 Resort, 17) won 3-0 against “PBA Oldest” Kim Moo-soon (68).

Vietnamese players from PBA advanced to the round of 128 with ease after playing in front of their home country fans. Nguyen Ph린ng Nguyen Deuk Ain Cien advanced to the round of 64 after a tight race against Shin Ki-woong and Mobongo. Nguyen Quoc Nguyen (Hana Card) won after a tight race against Vietnam’s wild card Tran Thien Phong.

Nguyen Nguyen Ng Ok Chi was the only player in the first day of the round of 128 who participated as a Vietnamese wild card to reach the round of 64 by turning Oh Tae-joon (Crown Haitai) back to a set score of 3-1.

In the LPBA, Cha Yu-ram (Huons) defeated Seo Han-sol (Woori Financial Capital) to confirm his advance to the round of 16. Cha took the lead in the second set first through aggressive play. However, he lost three or four sets to Seo, and started the match. As if to regain concentration, Cha scored five points, and as Seo had no goal, Cha succeeded in advancing to the round of 16.

Ayako Sakai of Japan and Hana Card defeated Jeong Su-bin of NH Nonghyup Card 3-1 and Kim Sang-ah also defeated Han Ji-eun of SY 3-1 to confirm her advance to the round of 16. Jang Ga-yeon of SY, Kim Bo-ra, Oh Do-hee, Jang Hye-ri and Jungmi Kim also acquired tickets to the round of 16.

Meanwhile, on the 21st, the third day of the competition, the second day of the PBA 128 round will be held from 1 p.m., and the second day of the LPBA 32 round will be held from 6 p.m.
