‘No. 5 seed’ Kansas City – ‘No. 6 seed’ Detroit, Underdog’s great rebellion…advance to the AL Division Series

In the American League, underdogs caused a great rebellion. The American League has confirmed a division series matchup.

The fifth-seeded Kansas City Royals and the sixth-seeded Detroit Tigers advanced to the division series by sweeping the best-of-three wild-card series on the 3rd (Korea time).

Kansas City won 2-1 in the second game of the wild-card series against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camdayas in Baltimore, Maryland.

In Game 1 of the series held the previous day (2nd), Colagans pitched six innings of four hits, eight strikeouts and no runs, and won 1-0 thanks to Bobby Wit Jr.’s timely hit to the left in the sixth inning with two outs and a third base.

In the second game, Kansas City played a salty game as well. After starting pitcher Seth Lugo had five hits (one homer) and one walk, six strikeouts and one run in four ⅓ innings, bullpen pitchers such as Angel Jerfa, John Schreiber, Sam Long, Chris Vuvic and Lucas Erseg pitched perfectly without allowing any runs.
Vinnie Pasquantino’s timely hit to the right in the top of the first inning made by Michael Mash’s double and Bobby Witt Jr.’s groundout to the second base.

After allowing Cedric Mullins to throw a tying solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning, the batter faced a crisis with one out due to a hit, a walk, and an error. However, second pitcher Angel Gerpa struck out Colton Kauser and grounded out Adley Rutchman to shortstop to overcome the crisis.

In the top of the sixth inning, Bobby Witt Jr. made a timely hit with an infield hit to the second baseman, with runners on the first and third bases with two outs, and turned the game around again. This score ultimately resulted in the finisher.

With the victory, Kansas City has advanced to the Division Series for the first time in nine years since it won the 2015 World Series. The Kansas City Royals will play the division series against the New York Yankees, the winner and No. 1 seed of the American League East. 스포츠토토
