The 2023 MLB CUP KOREA preliminary round, a youth baseball tournament hosted by the Major League Secretariat, will be held at Hwaseong Dream Park in Gyeonggi-do for 10 days, starting on the 30th and ending on June 8th.
The ‘2023 MLB CUP KOREA’ is a national little baseball tournament hosted by the Major League Secretariat and supervised by the Korea Little Baseball Federation. In last year’s competition, the Incheon Seo-gu Little Baseball Team won the U10 category and the Bucheon City Little Baseball Team won the U12 category, respectively.
‘2023 MLB CUP KOREA’ starts with the opening ceremony held at Hwaseong Dream Park at 5:00 pm on the 30th, and qualifiers are held for 10 days until the 8th of the following month. The finals will be held at the Kangchanghak Baseball Stadium in Jeju until the 19th. In addition, since last year, U12 competitions have been added along with the existing U10 competitions to encourage participation in youth teams of more diverse age groups. This year, 63 teams in the U10 division and 105 teams in the U12 division participated from all over the country, establishing itself as the largest competition with 168 youth teams, the largest number in the country.
MLB, which established the MLB Scholarship for the development of Korean youth baseball since last year, plans to select 10 players through various criteria such as sportsmanship, baseball skills, and coach recommendation this year as well as holding the tournament and provide the second MLB scholarship. Through MLB scholarship students selected together with the Korea Little Baseball Federation, MLB plans to continue supporting the growth of young Korean baseball players.
Charlie Hill, senior vice president of MLB International, said, “I hope that the next generation of Korean baseball players will be able to develop their love for baseball through the special experience of the MLB CUP tournament.”
Seung-an Yoo, president of the Korea Little Baseball Federation, who was in charge of organizing the tournament, said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to MLB and Korea Branch Manager Song Seon-jae for their active support for the Korea Little Baseball Federation every year.”

In addition to the games, various programs such as home run derby event in which players participate and inviting players from MLB to give young players a good experience will be prepared at the MLB CUP finals.
