‘Mitchell-Garland 55P’ Cleveland snaps GSW’s 6-game winning streak

The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped the Golden State Warriors’ winning streak.

The Cavaliers defeated the Warriors 115-104 on Saturday (Nov. 6) in their first home game of the NBA 2023-24 regular season at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

The winning Cavaliers were led by Mitchell’s 31 points and seven assists, including five 3-pointers, and Garland’s 24 points, three rebounds, and seven assists. In the losing effort, Golden State was led by Curry with 28 points on 6-of-28 shooting from 3-point range, four assists and two steals, and Green with 18 points, three rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

The Cavaliers started Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Max Strasburg, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, while Golden State countered with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney.

It would be interesting to see how Cleveland’s finally fully operationalized lineup would fare against a Golden State team that has been on a roll lately. 아톰카지노 도메인

With both teams at full strength, the Cavs came out firing in the first quarter. It was Golden State that struck first, with Curry and Thompson taking turns knocking down three-pointers to force a Cleveland timeout. Out of the stoppage time, the Cavaliers tied the game with back-to-back three-pointers from George Niang. Unexpectedly, Golden State, with Green assisting on the outside shot, took a 30-29 lead after a two-minute scoring lull.

Dwyane Wade’s three-pointer broke the long scoring drought, and Cleveland capitalized on the gaps in their offense. Mitchell, in particular, grabbed an offensive rebound and immediately knocked down a three-pointer, followed by a fastbreak layup for an end-one. Garland followed suit, scoring on Gary Payton II and Paul to take advantage of Golden State’s vaunted second unit battle. Cleveland went into halftime with a 57-45 lead.

Curry, who had been committing a lot of turnovers and disrupting the flow of the offense, picked up his game in the third quarter. Curry hit a 3-pointer after a two-man game with Green and another after back-to-back 3-pointers from Wiggins and Thompson. Curry also knocked down a step-back 3-pointer while the Cleveland defense was on him. But the Heat also exploited their defense and height weaknesses and made plenty of free throws. After back-to-back defensive stops by Wade and Tristan Thompson, the Cavs ended the third quarter with an 86-77 lead.

The teams picked up the tempo to start the fourth quarter with a three-pointer from Paul, who hadn’t made one all game. Mitchell then hit a pull-up three-pointer and Paul responded with an elbow jumper. After Kuminga drew a free throw on an offensive rebound, the Warriors inserted Curry into the game, but the Cavaliers responded by utilizing the height of Mobley-Albert to keep Golden State in the game.

With six minutes left in the game, the Cavs regained their defensive focus and quickly built a 12-point lead on back-to-back baskets by Sturs. Green quickly responded with a hook shot after the buzzer, but Mobley followed with a putback dunk after winning a rebounding battle with Thompson. Allen also got in on the offensive rebound, showing off his height advantage. After a turnaround three-pointer from Curry led to a fastbreak layup from Garland, Golden State brought all of its starters to the bench, and the Warriors went on to win by 11 points, 115-104.
