Kevin Herr, ‘Chinese’ Becomes First Asian Player to Sign A Rookie With NHL Club

The first “Asian rookie player” was born in the North American Ice Hockey League (NHL).

The Winnipeg Jets announced on its website on the 19th (Korea Standard Time) that it had signed an entry-level contract with Kevin Herr (18, China) for a three-year total of $975,000.

Kevin Herr, who currently plays as an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) junior player, received Winnipeg’s nomination with the 109th overall pick in the fourth round of this year’s NHL rookie draft.
