Daejeon Hana Citizen has completed the appointment of a new coaching staff to assist coach Hwang Sun-hong. The newly appointed coaching staff are head coach Myung Jae-yong, GK coach Kim Il-jin, and physical coach Park Sung-kyun.
Coach Myung Jae-yong played for Jeonbuk Hyundai from 1997 to 2002, and after his retirement, he started his career as a coach of Suncheon-Masan Middle School. Since 2014, he has been a full-time leader of the Korea Football Association and served as a coach for the U19 men’s national team. From 2017, he contributed to Ulsan’s “2020 AFC Champions League” as the chief coach of Ulsan HD FC led by coach Kim Do-hoon.
After serving as the head coach of the prestigious Singaporean team Ryan City Sailors (2021-2022), he served as the head coach of the South Korean U23 national team led by Hwang Sun-hong in 2022-2024, contributing to the gold medal at the “19th Hangzhou Asian Games.” In March 2024, he won the “2024 WAFF U23 Championship” on behalf of Hwang Sun-hong, who is serving as the interim coach of the A team.
GK coach Kim Il-jin played for the Pohang Steelers from 1993 to 2000 and began his leadership career as GK coach at Pohang Steel Middle School. From 2009 to 2015, he helped win the ACL in 2009, the FA Cup in 2012, the FA Cup in 2013, and the K League Classic as the Pohang Steelers GK coach. After playing for Daejeon Citizen (2016), FC Seoul (2017-2019), and Daejeon Hana Citizen (2020), he led the Korean U23 national team with Hwang Sun-hong from 2021.
Coach Park Sung-kyun served as the physical coach for the Vietnamese national team led by Park Hang-seo in 2019 after serving as the physical coach of Suwon Samsung U15 (2016-2017) and the physical coach of Yanbian Fudder in the Chinese league (2018-2019). He assisted Park Hang-seo and contributed to the gold medal at the “2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines,” the quarterfinals at the “2019 AFC Asian Cup,” and the advance to the final qualifying round for the first World Cup in the history of the Vietnamese national soccer team. Daejeon Hana expects a positive synergy effect based on its experience in keeping pace with coach Hwang Sun-hong for many years in the field.
Under the new system, Daejeon Hana will run Team A under the leadership of Hwang Sun-hong, senior coach Myung Jae-yong, GK coach Kim Il-jin, GK coach Bae Hyo-sung, and physical coach Park Sung-kyun. Team B will be run under the leadership of Jin Kyung-sun, GK coach Lee Sun-sun, and physical coach Kim Sung-hwan.
