Chung Mong-kyu, president of the Korea Football Association, cited “the ability to unite the team as a team” as an essential competency for the new national team head coach, who is in trouble at the appointment.
“After all, the ability to form a team is the most important thing,” Chung told reporters after the Korea Football Association hosted the “One Heart Football Championship” at the Korea Football Center in Cheonan on Tuesday. “I think they (coaching staff) will do a good job when it comes to tactics.”
He also said, “I told the (national team) power reinforcement committee not to talk to me like, ‘Who will do it’ and ‘Who will do it’. Isn’t it important to set what we want first and then adjust the procedural justification?” and explained, “I think it’s very difficult to define what we need.”
The official position of the national team’s head coach has been vacant since former coach Jurgen Klinsmann was replaced in February. The National Power Reinforcement Committee, launched under Chairman Chung Hae-sung, has been reviewing more than 100 candidates, but has yet to find a suitable leader.
Recently, with Chairman Chung suddenly announcing his resignation, technical director Lee Im-saeng has left for Europe to meet with foreign leaders who are on the final list of candidates for the next director.
Regarding the appointment of the national team coach, Chung said, “I haven’t received any reports yet. I believe it will go well. I heard (Lee Im-saeng) is working hard.”
“I think the public opinion will split 45 percent to 55 percent regardless of who will be elected. No matter who will be elected, 55 percent of the respondents will oppose it,” he said. “I don’t think there is a chance (coach) with 50 percent support. Manager Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) will also have a difficult time.”
As soccer fever has increased recently, the standard for the national team coach, who is receiving national attention, has also become stricter.
유흥알바 The soccer tournament was held for the Korea Football Association, construction company Dongbu Construction and Cheonan City Hall employees, and reporters as some of the grounds were completed as the basic construction of the soccer center, which is scheduled to open in June next year, progressed to some extent.
Chairman Chung, who was born in 1962 and is 62 years old, also joined the competition as a member of the Korea Football Association wearing the national team uniform and playing on the ground with his employees.
Chairman Chung said at the opening ceremony, “They are pouring out a lot of articles about the national team coach these days, and I think there will be time to explain this process or procedure in detail once (the coach) is selected later.”
The soccer center, which has a total area of 478,000㎡ (about 145,000 pyeong), is divided into areas handled by Cheonan City (363,000㎡, about 110,000 pyeong) and the Korea Football Association (115,000㎡, about 35,000 pyeong).
Some artificial turf fields in Cheonan have already been opened after completion. In contrast, stadiums and training grounds, which are areas of the Korea Football Association, are still under construction.
