Choi Hye-jin and Kim Hyo-joo got off to a good start, tying for fourth on the first day of the Amundi Evian Championship, the fourth major tournament of the U.S. LPGA Tour season.
Choi Hye-jin tied seven birdies and one bogey in the first round of the competition at the Evian Resort Golf Club (par 71) in Evian Levene, France, on the 12th (Korea time). Kim Hyo-joo tied for fourth with Choi Hye-jin, Lydia Ko (New Zealand), and Ayaka Furue (Japan) by making six birdies without a bogey. Kim Hyo-joo won the competition in 2014.
Jemma Dryberg (Scotland), Ingrid Lindblad (Sweden), and Patti Tawatanakit (Thailand), who recorded 7-under 64, tied for the lead.

Starting at the 10th hole, Kim garnered her first birdie at the 11th hole (par 4), and made birdies at the 15th and 16th holes in succession. In the second half, she smiled as she birdied at the 1st, 2nd, and 9th holes, respectively.
Yoo Hae-ran made five birdies without a bogey and tied for 10th with 5-under 66, while Yang Hee-young, Annarin, Ko Jin-young, Lee Mi-hyang and Lee Jung-eun tied for 21st with 2-under 69.
Park Ji-young, a member of the KLPGA Tour, finished the first day tied for 38th with Im Jin-hee and others by writing a 1-under 70.
Two other hole-in-ones were also made on the first day of the championship, which drew attention. Jodie Ewart Shadoff of England entered the hole cup with a tee shot with a 9-iron at the 16th hole (par 3). In addition, Wu Junwei of Taiwan, who played as an amateur player, made a hole-in-one at the 5th hole (par 3).
