Tottenham Hotspur President Daniel Levy chose players other than Son Heung-min as Tottenham legend.
Britain’s ‘TBR Football’ reported on the 24th (Korea Standard Time) that “Tottenham’s president Levi mentioned three Tottenham legendary players in his opinion at the fan forum.”
According to the media, Levy responded to a fan’s question, “It’s a really tough question. There were a lot of great players in this club, and I had the honor of working with a lot of them. So I couldn’t pick one. It’s Gareth Bale, Dimitar Berbatov, Harry Kane, etc.”
All three figures that Levi talked about are legendary figures of Tottenham. First of all, Kane was a youth player with Tottenham before debuting professionally in the 2011-12 season. He was mostly a bench member in the beginning, but he gradually became a starting player. He became the best striker in the Premier League and a world-class striker. He has scored 280 goals in a total of 435 matches for Tottenham, and has been named the top scorer in the history of the club, three times in PL, and one time in assists.
Berbatov also displayed impressive performances in the Premier League with Tottenham. Notably, he was given the nickname “The Count” as he was praised for his elegant footwork and ball handling. Having joined Tottenham Hotspur in the 2006-07 season after serving as Bayer Leverkusen, he emerged as a league-class striker by scoring 45 goals in 98 games during the two seasons. Later, he moved to Manchester United and later retired after moving to various clubs.
Bale is by far considered a legend in Tottenham’s history. Bale moved from Southampton in the summer of 2007 and became the best winger for Tottenham. After playing until 2013, Bale headed for Real Madrid, and when he returned to Tottenham again in the 2020-21 season, he scored 71 goals in 237 appearances. Bale spent his last career in Los Angeles.
Levi’s chairman did not mention Son, who was there at the same time. Son is in his 10th season with Tottenham since joining the club in the 2015-16 season. He has 164 goals in a total of 414 matches for Tottenham, and he has been named captain since last season. 스포츠토토
In this season, he even took charge of the role of a special playmaker, ranking second in Premier League assists in Tottenham history. Up until the last minute, he had 62 assists with Christian Eriksen, but Son Heung-min added two assists against Brentford to post a total of 64 assists, rising to the second place alone. He also surpassed Raheem Sterling’s 63 assists, tying for 18th in Premier League assists along with Alan Shearer and Gareth Barry.
In the U.K., Son is regarded as an absolute player of Tottenham. The British newspaper HITC said, “He should be respected even more. His importance should be fully appreciated. He scored 17 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League last season, and if you think he is done, you should wish the rest of Tottenham players good luck.”
Spurs Webb, who delivers the news of Tottenham, said, “I think we’ve had the same conversation about Son Heung-min every time over the past four years. Even though he had a slow start, he fully recovered his condition and showed his true self as he gained momentum a few months after the start of the season. Son Heung-min is still one of the most important players for us, and Son Heung-min will silence his critics as always.”
