Daegu local boys will play for their hometown Samsung Lions.
The Korean pro baseball league hosted “2025 KBO League Rookie Draft” at the World Crystal Ballroom at Lotte Hotel in Seoul on Sunday. It is an important time to choose the future of the team. Samsung picked pitcher Bae Chan-seung (Daegu High School) as the third overall pick in the first round and outfielder Soo Soo-ho (Daegu Sangwon High School) as the 33rd overall pick in the fourth round.
“Our strategy for this season’s draft was power. Our strategy was to select fastball pitchers and hitters who can hit far away,” Samsung General Manager Lee Jong-yeol said after the draft. Left-handed pitcher Bae Chan-seung has a muscular body and can throw fastballs with speeds of 150 kilometers per hour or more. Outfielder Soo-ho holds the record of 13 homers overall among high school students who participated in the rookie draft. They fit the mold that Samsung wanted to find.
Samsung also wanted Bae Chan-seung and Soo-ho, while Bae Chan-seung and Soo-ho wanted Samsung as well. Bae Chan-seung is from Oksan Elementary School, Daegu Hyupseong Gyeongbok Middle School, Daegu, and Soo-ho is from Hyupseong Gyeongbok Middle School and Daegu Sangwon High School. Both players are “local boys” in Daegu, and the perfect match between the team and the players is expected. 메이저사이트
Bae Chan-seung, whom we met after the rookie draft, said with a smile, “I’m so honored to be nominated in the 3rd place. And I’m really happy and happy because I originally liked Samsung. I had a desire to go to Samsung. It’s really nice to be selected.”
Kim Soo-ho, who we met at the draft, also showed a big smile at joining Samsung. “I’m honored to be selected by Samsung. It’s nice to be close to home. I like Samsung, and I went to see a lot of baseball. I looked forward to it a lot because I wanted to come, but I’m really happy to be selected by Samsung.”
Expectations are high for Bae and Soo-ho. Bae should revitalize his team by using his left-handed bullpen, which he lacks. At the Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, where many long balls are produced, Soo should display his explosive long balls.
Regarding his expectations for himself, Bae Chan-seung said, “I won’t be able to join the must-win group right away, but I want to show better and better performances and take charge of the center of Samsung’s bullpen.”
“I think I can hit a lot of home runs,” said Soo-ho, “In the professional league, I want to go to the first team as soon as possible and take the center hitter of the team.”
Will Samsung’s highly anticipated local boys be able to quickly immerse themselves in the professional world and do their part? For Samsung to have a brilliant future, they need to play their part.
