Choi Ji-man (Pittsburgh Pirates, photo) recorded his first multi-hit (two or more hits in one game) in this year’s demonstration game.
Choi Ji-man started as the designated hitter in the 2023 American Professional Baseball Major League demonstration game against the Philadelphia Phillies held at Bay Care Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida, on the 11th (Korean time), and got 2 hits in 3 at-bats.
Choi Ji-man, who hit in three games, raised his exhibition game batting average from 0.091 to 0.214 (3 hits in 14 at-bats).안전놀이터
In his first at-bat in the first inning, Choi Ji-man withdrew with an ordinary left fielder’s floating ball. However, he made a left-handed hit by attacking opponent starter Jack Wheeler’s 145 km/h slider in the third inning. In the fifth inning, he hit Unior Marte’s 156 km/h sinker and hit a double that flowed toward the left field line.
A ball girl waiting outside the foul line mistook the ball for a foul and handed the ball over to the crowd, which was recorded as a ‘recognized double’. It was Choi Ji-man’s second long hit (two doubles) in this demonstration game.
