The entire starting lineup of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been postponed again. Tyler Glasnow (31) felt elbow pain while returning to the team.
Juan Toribio, a reporter for the Dodgers on the Major League’s official website MLB.com , said on Wednesday (Korea time) that Glisnow was scheduled to throw simulation pitching for two innings. It was an important step for him to play in the postseason starting rotation. However, after starting warm-up and completing 20 pitches, he complained of discomfort in his right elbow.
In the end, Glasnow’s live pitch was canceled.
Glasnow, who warmed up by throwing only fastballs in the first bullpen pitching on the 8th, showed various pitches by mixing breaking balls in the second pitching on the 10th, two days later.
As he was fine with his physical condition, he planned to raise his pitch and start pitching live. However, as he complained of discomfort in his elbow again, his return process was reset again.
It is also a bleak result for the Dodgers preparing for autumn baseball.
“I felt uncomfortable in my arm. I had to stop it quickly, and I decided to stop pitching live. I felt frustrated. We have to wait and see when we can throw from now on,” manager Dave Roberts said.
Glasnow will undergo an MRI scan again, after which he will undergo a rehab procedure. It is effectively a season out.
MLB.com said, “It has also become unclear whether Glasnow will play in the postseason.”
Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior also declined to comment, saying, “It’s too bad. We’ll see how things go today and tomorrow. It could have stopped for a while, or it could continue (rehabilitation).”
Dodgers starters are not perfect right now. Jack Flaherty, Gavin Stone, Walker Buehler and Bobby Miller are among them, but key players including Clayton Kershaw and Glasnow are missing.
The Dodgers acquired Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays in a trade to win the championship. The deal did not end with the acquisition. It granted him a five-year, 135 million-dollar extension contract through 2028.
And Glasnow took on the team’s first starting role in March, including as an official starting pitcher for the opening game against the San Diego Padres in the 안전놀이터 Major League Baseball’s Seoul Series.
However, he has only 134 innings, and is showing below expectations with 9 wins, 6 losses and an ERA of 3.4168 strikeouts in 22 games.
Injuries are also a problem. He has been listed twice, including the elbow injury.
