Major League Baseball’s “trouble maker” Tommy Pham (36) of the Chicago White Sox caused bench-clearing. He had a point of anger, so he warned others.
According to Yahoo Sports, a U.S. media outlet, Pam warned on the 3rd (Korea time) that “I don’t start first, but I’m getting ready to finish. There’s a reason why I play all kinds of martial arts in the offseason.”
Why did Pam make such a comment? The incident began on the same day in a 2024 Major League Baseball regular season game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago White Sox at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee won the game 6-3, and the White Sox recorded their 11th consecutive win in a season in 68 years.
In the top of the eighth inning, when the White Sox were trailing 3-4 in the game, Dominic Fletcher and Pam walked in succession to get to the first and second bases with no outs. Milwaukee immediately changed its pitcher to Enoli Paredis. Nikki Lopez attempted a bunt but failed, and pinch runner Zac Remillard, who was heading to third base, was caught by a catcher’s throw and was out. Coincidentally, Lopez hit a double afterwards, making it one out and runners on the second and third bases. Unfortunately, Pam had to stop at third base as she crossed the fence with a one-bound bound.

There was something else Pam was really angry about. “I was going to the dugout and I heard something booing,” he said. “I don’t start first. But I’m ready to finish,” he complained to Milwaukee, saying, “Why would I do martial arts in the offseason?”
Contreras looked resolute. “It was part of the game. The play helped us secure our lead,” he said. “The only part that I think about is, our team and our players win the game.” Milwaukee coach Pat Murphy embraced Pam. He said, “I like Pam. I’ve been criticized for a lot of things, but he’s a hard worker and he competes.”
Due to her hot-tempered personality, she had several conflicts. In 2022, when she was a member of Cincinnati, she slapped Joc Pederson (then San Francisco Giants) before an away game due to a conflict over fantasy baseball games. The MLB Secretariat suspended Pam for three games. After the incident, Pam confidently said, “Pederson deserved to be slapped.”
She also clashed with a fan of the San Diego Padres last year. After having an argument with the fan during the match, Pam said, “The audience first said ‘trash’.” Then, an acquaintance of the fan defended her, saying, “I’m never the type to say something like that,” and Pam countered, “Get a lie detector test.”
There were also conflicts within the game. During his time in San Diego, Pam came out as a left fielder against the Chicago Cubs on June 3, 2021, and collided with Kim Ha-sung (29), who was a shortstop while defending. However, even when Kim was lying down complaining of pain, Pam got angry and got into the dugout, causing controversy.
