A stable defense and a delivery cross… Seol Young-woo, who is growing more in Europe, is no longer worried about right fullback for the national team

The South Korean national soccer team has crossed Jordan, which was a crisis.

South Korea beat Jordan 2-0 in the third Group B match of the Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup at Amman International Stadium in Jordan on Oct. 10.

South Korea had bad news that Hwang Hee-chan and Um Ji-sung were injured due to the opponent’s rough foul, but they did not falter. South Korea secured three valuable points in the away match in Jordan thanks to Lee Jae-sung’s header goal in the 38th minute of the first half and Oh Hyun-kyu’s net goal in the 23rd minute of the second half.

With the victory, South Korea also shook off the pain of losing 0-2 to Jordan in the semifinals of the 2023 Qatar Asian Cup.

At the center of Korea’s perfect revenge was right fullback Seol Young-woo.
Seol Young-woo played full time on the day and showed off his stable defense and offense.

According to Footmob, a soccer statistics website, Seol had a 78 percent pass success rate, one key pass, five tackles, two kickbacks, one interception, and nine wins in competition. Seol also helped Lee Jae-sung score a header with a sharp cross from the right side.

Footmob named Seol the man of the match (MOM) on the day. Footmob gave Seol the highest score (8.4 points) in both teams.

Seol made his A Match debut on 20 June 2023 in a friendly match against El Salvador.

Seol quickly became a member of the Korean national team as he continued his performance in the K League 1 while wearing an Ulsan HD uniform. Seol has secured the starting position at the 2023 Qatar Asian Cup as well as the second Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup.

Not only can Seol play both right and left fullbacks, but he can also play central defender and defensive midfielder. Seol proved himself versatile several times in the K League 1 when he was in Ulsan.

Seol Young-woo is trying to grow one step further.

Seol Young-woo moved to FK Tsurvena Zvezda, a prestigious Serbian professional football league, in the transfer market this summer.

Seol has quickly established himself as Zvezda’s core player. Seol has scored one goal in seven league games this season. 안전놀이터

Seol Young-woo also played full time in two UEFA Champions League (UCL) games played by Zvezda.

Seol is adding to his experience by facing Argentine legends Angel Di Maria, Chalhanoglu and Carlos Augusto in the UCL.

As Seol continues to be competitive in Europe, the national team’s long-term worries have disappeared. Korea has been agonizing over the absence of a built-in right fullback since Song Jong-guk, Cha Du-ri and Lee Yong.

South Korea will face Iraq in Group B of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup at Yongin Mir Stadium on Oct. 15.

Like Korea, Iraq has two wins and one draw (seven points) in three matches of the third qualifying round. Korea is leading Iraq in goal difference by two points. The team that will win the match on Saturday is one step closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals in North Korea and the U.S.

Attention is focusing on whether Seol Young-woo will take the lead in South Korea’s third consecutive qualifying round with his unchanged performance.
