“Volleyball cannot be won on its own.” Captain Jeong Kwan-jang’s coolness and messages left to Mokpo Women’s 16 years younger

“Volleyball can’t be won on its own. There have to be six players.”

It was the words left by Jeong Kwan-jang’s captain Yeom Hye-sun after finishing the Korea Expressway Construction match with a victory at Gimcheon Indoor Gymnasium on the 3rd.

Chung beat GS Caltex and Pepper Savings Bank to enjoy his second straight win in the season. At the IBK Industrial Bank match held at home on Oct. 30, however, he lost four or five sets to take the first loss of the season.

At the time, Ko Hee-jin, head coach of Jeong Kwan-jang, said, “The performance didn’t come out. If one or two players are shaken, they can cover it, but overall, they didn’t show their performance. In a way, we lost the game. If the flow is twisted, there are mistakes that we shouldn’t do. There may be technical deficiencies, but when the mind is shaken and impatient, mistakes come out. Whenever that happens, I say, ‘Let’s be calm, let’s be relaxed.’

If you lose consecutively at the beginning of the season, you will inevitably have difficulty in the ranking fight. So the road construction match was important. Also, after the road construction match, there is a four-game series between Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Heungkuk Life Insurance. So we needed a victory.

Fortunately, Chung won the game 3-0, and had nine points (3-1). He has succeeded in earning points in all matches.

“After losing the match against IBK, I felt uncomfortable during the practice session because I had a lot of bad parts,” Yeom said after the match. “Only when I win, will the mood rebound. Even if I lose consecutive games, I have to overcome it. I tried to play more first and talk more so that the players would not feel pressured.”

“You can’t win volleyball alone. You have to unite six players. This season, it has become better to trust and rely on each other. I try to talk a lot even when I’m behind, and I like to endure and overcome during deuce,” he said. “If I find coolness first and take the lead so that the players can follow me, I will be able to play a better game.”

In the women’s rookie draft held in September, two juniors of Yeom Hye-sun’s alma mater Mokpo Girls’ High School were honored to be selected in the first round. Setter Kim Dae-eun wore the uniform of GS Caltex as the No. 1 player in the first round and outside heater Lee Ju-ah as the No. 3 player in the first round.
In particular, Kim Dae-eun has a different feeling about her. She knows that it is not easy for a player who plays the setter position to be selected as the first overall pick. Currently, Kim Dae-eun has secured the main setter position at the Korea Expressway Corporation in just four games, and has been receiving favorable reviews from many coaches, saying, “She is a talent who will become a member of the national team.”

“Two of my alma mater’s juniors were picked in the first round. I hope they do well. I hope they continue to grow,” Yeom said. “Especially, Daeun is a rookie and smart player. She will grow into a good setter. I hope they grow up well without being aware of their surroundings.”

Chung will enter into four games of his destiny. He will conclude his first round with Hyundai E&C in Daejeon on August 8 and Heungkuk Life Insurance in Incheon on August 12. He will have his first round match with Hyundai E&C in Suwon on August 16 and Heungkuk Life Insurance in Daejeon on August 20. It is the first crisis this season that coach Ko Hee-jin mentioned.

“Players themselves say, ‘Let’s not give us a hard time,'” Yeom said. “If we destroy ourselves, the opponent team will make every play we can. From receiving, second touch, and last attack. If we do our best, we will be able to produce good results no matter which team we face. Then, we will win.” 먹튀검증
