“Did you aim for this?” Chung Mong-kyu, president of the Korea Football Association, said, “I don’t understand the controversy over the appointment of FIFA President Infantino.”

Chung Mong-kyu, president of the Korea Football Association, said FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who recently met and talked at the Korea Football Center, responded, “I don’t understand well” about the appointment of the Korean national soccer team coach.

Chairman Chung Mong-gyu attended the “AFC Annual Awards Seoul 2023” held at Kyung Hee University Peace Hall in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul on the 29th.

Chairman Chung, who met with on-site reporters before the event began, delivered some of the conversations he had with FIFA President Infantino at the soccer hall the day before.

Chairman Chung said, “I’m enjoying Infantino’s visit to Korea. He seems to be busy shopping. I’m glad that he seems to understand and enjoy Korean culture.”

Asked what kind of conversation they had, he said, “I explained about Cheonan National Football Center. I was deeply moved by this,” adding, “I will introduce it to other countries, too. It seemed like I had a good impression on them.” 먹튀검증

Infantino met with Chung on Friday and reportedly gave a positive assessment to the Korea Football Association, saying, “The Korea Football Association is running very well. FIFA values autonomy in sports.”

Chairman Chung said, “(Fantino) seemed to have a good understanding of what’s happening in Korea. It seemed like he was monitoring everything that came out of the media.”

Regarding the recent controversy over the selection process of the national team coach, he said, “I reported to FIFA about what had happened, but I said I didn’t understand it well,” adding, “In the end, President Infantino said, ‘Isn’t it the responsibility of the head of the Korea Football Association to appoint a coach?'”

“It seems that the National Assembly is looking too much under the microscope. From a broader perspective, the committee recommended (director) him, and we took proper measures to appoint him, but it is regrettable that he looked too much under the microscope,” Chairman Chung said.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s national soccer team captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham) won the “Men’s International Player of the Year” and Park Yoon-jung (U-20) women’s national team coach won the “Women’s Leader of the Year” at the awards ceremony.
