MLB Cubs-Cincinnati match, 1 hour 48 minutes…Fastest shutdown since 2010

The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds played a “one hour and 48 minutes” speed game.

The Cubs won 1-0 at home against Cincinnati in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on the 28th (Korea time).

Cubs starter Jamieson Teyon took the victory by allowing four hits and no runs in seven innings, while Cincinnati starter Nick Martinez “totally lost” despite giving up five hits and one run in eight innings.

Amid the pitching staff’s hard work, both teams had only nine hits (five hits in the Cubs, four hits in Cincinnati), and the game ended in an hour and 48 minutes, making it the fastest MLB game since 2010.

The only score came in a Cubs attack in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Nico Connor, who appeared as a leadoff hitter, hit a double to left field, and Pete Crowe-Armstrong made a sacrifice bunt.

Miguel Ayama brought the corner home with a sacrifice fly to right field with one out and third base. 안전놀이터

MLB.COM said, “The game ended the fastest on June 3, 2010, after 1 hour and 44 minutes of the game between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians (now the Guardians).”

The shortest-time game based on nine MLB innings was 51 minutes achieved by the New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies on September 30, 1919.

The shortest record in the 21st century is 1 hour and 39 minutes. On April 16, 2005, the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners finished the game in 1 hour and 39 minutes.
