Novak Djokovic (2nd, Serbia) reached the third round of the men’s singles (32nd round) at the Wimbledon tennis tournament (total prize money of 50 million pounds, about 87.5 billion won).
Djokovic defeated Jacob Fernley of England 3-1 (6-3 6-45-7 7-5) in the second round of the men’s singles on the fourth day of the tournament at the All England Club in London on the 4th (local time).
Djokovic, who aims to regain the hegemony of the tournament for the first time in two years since 2022, will compete with Alexei Popyrin (47th, Australia) for the round of 16.
Djokovic withdrew due to a knee injury ahead of the quarter-final of the French Open last month, making his participation in the tournament itself unclear.

In the second round of the women’s singles, Iga Sibiontech (1st, Poland) defeated Petra Martic (85th, Croatia) 2-0 (6-4 6-3).
This year’s French Open champion Ciontech has the best record of the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
Yuliya Putintseva (35, Kazakhstan) is the third-round opponent of Sibiontech, which has recently won 21 consecutive games.
Sibiontech and Putintseva have won all four games against each other.
Jessica Pegula (5th, USA) was beaten 1-2 (4th, China) by Wang Xinyu (42nd, China) (1-6).
Pegula, whose mother is Korean, rose to third place in the world rankings in 2022, but major competitions are weak compared to the world rankings as the quarterfinals are the best.
