Cho Myung-hyeon, a public interest reporter who exposed allegations먹튀검증 of personal errands and corporate card misuse by Kim Hye-kyung, the spouse of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myeong, will be investigated by prosecutors next week.
The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office notified Mr. Cho today (19th) that he be summoned for questioning as a reference on the 23rd.
In a phone call with SBS, Mr. Cho said, “We have coordinated with the prosecution several times,” and added, “We decided to go to the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office at 10 o’clock on the 23rd to receive an investigation.”
The prosecution, which recently formed a dedicated investigation team, is investigating allegations of misuse of a spouse’s corporate card while CEO Lee was governor of Gyeonggi Province.
Mr. Bae, who was the immediate supervisor who instructed Cho to use the corporate card and the assistant to Kim Hye-kyung, was indicted on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 2 years of probation in the first trial last August.
However, the investigation into Kim Hye-kyung, who was pointed out as an accomplice, is still in progress.
The prosecution also plans to investigate CEO Lee’s corruption report case that was recently handed over by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission handed over the case to the prosecution, saying there was a possibility that Representative Lee, who was the provincial governor at the time, knew about Mr. Kim’s personal use of the corporate card.
Previously, Mr. Cho attempted to appear as a witness in the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee audit of state affairs, but when he failed due to opposition from the opposition party, he held a press conference yesterday (18th) and revealed his face and real name.
