Cho Dae-hyun and Lee Yul-ye (Gangneung High School스포츠토토) were selected for the under-18 youth baseball team.
On the 18th, the Korea Baseball Softball Association released a list of youth representatives under the age of 18. A total of 20 players were selected, including 9 pitchers, 2 catchers, 5 infielders, and 4 outfielders, and from Gangneung High School, Cho Dae-hyeon (3rd year) and Lee Yul-ye (2nd year) were named.
Their selection was somewhat expected. Coach Choi Jae-ho of Gangneung High School predicted that they would be selected as youth representatives and would enter management at the Blue Dragon National High School Baseball Championship, which is currently underway.
Cho Dae-hyeon is the ace of Gangneung High School, who is also called ‘Jotani’ because he doubles as a pitcher. He is making a big success as an ace pitcher and fourth hitter at Gangneung High School this year. Catcher Lee Yul-ye is rated the best in defense, even among all junior catchers. His batting ability is also excellent, to the extent that he is mainly placed at the number 5 hitter.
The national team, led by coach Lee Young-bok of Chungam High School, will participate in the World Youth Baseball Championship, which will be held in Taipei and Taichung, Taiwan from September 1 to 10. The Korean national team is aiming to regain the top spot for the first time in 15 years since the 2008 Edmonton Games in Canada.
