The under-22 (U-22) Olympic soccer team led by coach Hwang Seon-hong defeated Iraq.
The U-22 national team won the second leg of the ‘Doha Cup U-22 Friendly Tournament’ against Iraq held at the Qatar Club Stadium in Doha, Qatar on the 26th (Korean time) thanks to Go Yeong-jun’s (Pohang) goal and won 1-0.
After beating Oman 3-0 in the first match, Hwang Seon-Hong-Ho won the tournament for the second time in a row. Korea will play the final against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 29th.
It was a game that seemed to end in a draw without scoring, but Ko Young-jun emerged as the solver. In the 44th minute of the second half, 안전놀이터 Ko Young-Jun, who received a forward pass from Hong Si-Hoo, hit a right-footed shot and shook the net.
In this tournament, in which a total of 10 countries participated, each team played two games, and then a ranking match was played based on the results of the match.
Hwang Seon-hong-ho is preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics to be held next year. The first Olympic qualifier will be held in September, and three Olympic tickets will be given at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup, which also serves as the final qualifier next year.
