0.02 second difference tears → smile at the thought of Italy…Lee Eunbin’s cool “High School Senior Finale”

Lee Eun-bin (18) of Jeonnam Sports High School, Korea’s leading women’s track and field sprint player, shed tears of regret even after setting a new national sports competition record. However, she proved that she is capable of challenging the Korean record of 100 meters in women’s 100 meters, which has not been exceeded by anyone for more than 30 years.

Lee Eun-bin recorded 11.76 seconds in the women’s 100m under-18 final at the 105th 2024 National Sports Festival held at Gimhae Stadium in Gyeongnam on the 13th, setting a new competition record and winning the championship.

Lee Eun-bin showed off her good condition from the preliminaries. In the women’s 100-meter high school preliminaries, she set a new event record of 11.80 seconds. She shortened her record of 11.85 seconds at the 2011 National Sports Festival by 0.05 seconds after 13 years.
In just two hours, Lee posted 11.76 seconds in the final, breaking the women’s 100-meter high school record at the National Sports Festival. She overcame her limits and won the gold medal.

Lee Eun-bin, however, fell short of the Korean women’s high school record of 11.74 seconds recorded by Kim Min-ji, a third grader at Gwangmun High School, in the final of the women’s 100m high school at the 67th National Athletics Championships in 2013.

For this reason, Lee Eun-bin checked the record through an electronic display after the final of the 100 meters and shed tears, expressing both joy and regret. She clearly displayed outstanding performance, but tears welled up in her eyes due to the competitive spirit that she could have done better.

Lee Eun-bin said, “I prepared really hard as it was my last competition in high school,” adding, “I wish I had run a little more because it fell short of the new record (for women’s high school).”

“Still, I set a new record for the National Sports Festival and got a really good result. I think that’s why tears mixed with joy and regret came out,” he said with a shy smile.

Lee Eun-bin won the women’s 100m, 200m and 400m relay races at the 53rd National Athletics Championships held in June, winning three gold medals. With her skills steadily rising, she will prepare for her adult debut next year.

Lee was only 0.25 seconds shorter than Lee Young-sook’s best record of 11.49 seconds in the 100-meter race. She is said to be capable of setting a new Korean record within the next two to three years.

Lee Eun-bin said, “I think I will sign a contract with the unemployment team first after graduating from high school, but nothing has been confirmed yet.” “If I play in the adult competition next year, I want to work harder and achieve good results.”

“I was also worried because there are many cases where my grades fall after going to high school in high school. Still, the coach took good care of my mental health and guided me, so I overcame it well and grew up,” he said. “I’m so sorry that I couldn’t break the Korean record for women’s high school, but I’ll do my best to break the Korean record in the adult competition.”

In addition, Lee Eun-bin mentioned her excitement ahead of her first trip to Europe as one of the secrets of her performance at the National Sports Festival. She will depart for Italy with her parents next week and enjoy a sweet rest and return. 먹튀검증
